Sarma stated in X, “Congress leaders are so desperate today that they are pushing Pawan Khera towards jail with their own actions.Once again, through him, they have released another set of completely fabricated documents — already exposed by our team.
“This is not politics anymore. This is outright deception.The Congress ecosystem has lost all sense of responsibility.
“In just a few hours, the people of Assam will give a fitting reply — and the Congress leadership will pay the price for this deceit.”
On Tuesday, Assam Police has reached Khera’s New Delhi residence however he was not there.
Khera, Chairman of the Media and Communication Department of the All India Congress Committee posted a fresh video message.
Re-clarifying his stance on the allegations leveled against the Chief Minister’s wife on the eve of elections, the Congress leader said that presenting publicly available information before the people is not a crime. Khera said that neither he nor any member of his family was present there at that time. Pawan Khera also alleged that during this operation, the police took away an old phone associated with the memories of his sister who died during the Covid period, a laptop he never used, and an iPad he had not even started using. Furthermore, the Congress leader alleged that the police took away multiple pen drives from the flat.
He said that the date of April 6 was actually the day the ‘Non-Disclosure Agreement’ was revoked.
Clarifying that this process is mandatory for any private information to become public, Khera questioned the government about the difference between registration and filing. The Congress leader strongly criticized the act of trying to hide the actual information of incorporation or establishment by showing the filing date.
He said that immediately after the cancellation of the agreement, the involvement of Riniki Bhuyan Sarma‘s name in the company named ‘Bhuyan Properties LLC’ came to light. According to the information on the website, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma’s date of birth is July 31, 1973, and her nationality is mentioned as Antigua and Barbuda. It is even clearly written there about ‘Citizenship by Investment’ and multiple nationalities.
The Congress that a brother of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who is on duty in the Assam Police his brother’s wife and son currently living in Dubai, Khera said, “One of your brothers is probably in the Assam Police. I have heard that his wife and son live in Dubai. He studies at the Dubai International School. Do you know what the fee of Dubai International School is Rs 21 lakh rupees per year. It is also said that the Chief Minister’s brother is associated with some cricket academy. Actually, we have nothing to do with what someone’s family does. We do not want to make the children of the family a target of politics. But we are only asking this—is this true? You should give an answer to this.”
Khera has moved the Telangana High Court seeking interim protection from arrest in the case registered against him by Assam Police.
Assam Police has booked Khera in a case of alleged defamation, forgery and criminal conspiracy. The case was registered following his recent claims that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife Riniki Bhuyan holds multiple foreign passports and undisclosed assets abroad.
The controversy began after Khera alleged that Riniki holds multiple passports, has properties in the US, UAE and has parked money in shell companies.
