Budgam, Mar 18: A lineman working with the Power Development Department (PDD) died after suffering an electric shock while performing his duties in Beerwah tehsil of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.
A police official from Police Station Beerwah said the incident occurred during routine work when the employee accidentally came into contact with a live electric current near DIET Beerwah.
“Soon after the incident, he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival,” the official said.
The deceased has been identified as Ali Mohammad Malik, a resident of Sonpah, Beerwah.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated necessary legal proceedings.
The official further said that a postmortem examination of the body will be conducted on Thursday to ascertain the exact cause of death.
