Prayagraj: Land in Kasari-Masari freed from the clutches of jailed mafia don Atiq Ahmed and his aides will now house 598 flats. PDA will develop the nearly one-hectare site as part of Padamlok Phase-II, close to the Phase-I project.Chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced the second phase of the township during his visit to Kasari-Masari on Thursday for the bhoomi pujan of Padamlok. He also directed authorities to develop the area as a township instead of limiting the project to a conventional housing scheme.Around 5,000 sq metres of land earlier held by Atiq’s close aide Imran and others was cleared by PDA. The authority is building 602 two-BHK flats there in Phase-I.The proposed second phase will add another 598 flats, taking the total planned housing capacity of the two phases to 1,200 flats. The phase-II land was also cleared by PDA as part of its action to reclaim properties from illegal occupation. For Phase-I, PDA has entrusted a professional agency with preparing the detailed project report (DPR). PDA vice-chairman Rishi Raj said the tendering process for construction would begin as soon as the DPR is completed. Work on the second phase would subsequently be taken up, he said. The Phase-I site currently has an overhead water tank, which is proposed to be demolished to facilitate development. Local residents said the tank had been constructed by Jal Nigam but had failed to provide adequate water supply to people in the surrounding area.
