Prayagraj: A paid parking and road beautification project for Civil Lines is set to move forward, with the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) preparing a detailed project report (DPR). The DPR is expected within a week, after which a tender will be issued to execute the work. The initiative gained momentum after divisional commissioner Dr Lokesh M inspected a model parking facility developed by the PDA on SP Marg near Indira Bhawan. The site currently accommodates around 20–25 cars and is being used for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.Following the inspection, the commissioner directed PDA vice-chairman Rishi Raj to begin work on the broader plan. The project aims to create organised parking spaces across Civil Lines and improve traffic movement and the overall look of key commercial roads. As part of the proposal, the divider between the main road and service lane on MG Marg—from Hanuman Temple crossing to All Saint’s Cathedral—will be removed. A slope will be developed to allow smoother vehicle entry and exit and enable more systematic roadside parking.Officials said the arrangement will be developed on the lines of the Thornhill Road parking, where vehicles can enter easily and park in an orderly manner. The system is expected to curb haphazard parking, reduce congestion and address bottlenecks caused by unmanaged roadside parking in the busy commercial area. The VC said the DPR would be completed within a week and, once approved, the tendering process would begin for implementation.
