Gaya: Patrolling has been intensified and vulnerable points have been put under surveillance to maintain law and order across the district on Holi eve.According to district magistrate Shashank Shubhankar special patrolling was being done in densely populated areas and roads leading to Gaya railway station, especially during late night and early morning hours.The measures taken for the maintenance of law and order, as per the decision taken at the district level include monitoring of the social media posts. Besides, social media users have been warned against mischief mongering.The DM has also directed the fire brigade officials to remain alert and minimise the response time. Special arrangements have been made at the Jai Prakash Narain district hospital and Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) to meet any emergency. Besides availability of doctors, including specialists, health dept officials have been directed to ensure easy availability of ambulances.The other measures include regular power and water supply during the festival period. Meanwhile several civil society members have raised concerns over loose hanging distribution cables in the densely populated areas.Taking note of the concerns of the civil society, the DM, earlier directed electricity officials to fix the issue and see to it that no inconvenience is caused to the general public. They have also been directed to see to it that no loose hanging wire problem exists in the vicinity of the Holika Dahan points.‘Matka Phod’ Holi is celebrated in Gaya on the next day of Holi and this year the ‘Matka Phod’ Holi will be observed on March 5. Organisers of the event have been handed over do’s and don’ts and directed to ensure discipline during the event.SSP Sushil Kumar has directed all the SHOs to ensure round-the-clock patrolling at pre-identified sensitive points across the district. Police officials have also been directed to strictly enforce the prohibition law in the district, especially on the Bihar Jharkhand border areas.Traffic personnel are under strict instructions to prevent risky bike driving, commonly known as ‘Laheriakat’, and promptly book the offenders.
