Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany, live the most vibrant lives you can imagine, but their home is just the opposite. Yes, the Mahomes and their kids indeed have a joyous life, but their $8million mansion is more of a minimal and warm abode. It took years for the NFL star, 30, to put together the home, which is now worth $8 million.
A dream abode built from scratch
Patrick Mahomes bought the eight-acre estate in Belton, Missouri, in 2020 for $400,000, not long after Patrick signed his ten-year contract extension with the Chiefs. The couple started construction soon, and in 2023, the couple and their three kids, Sterling Skye, Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon Mahomes III, and Golden Raye, moved in along with their pet dogs, Steel and Silver. In the Netflix docuseries Quarterback, Patrick spoke about staying in Kansas City long term and his decision to build a home there. “I actually decided to get the land, to get ready to build that right when I signed my contract here in Kansas City,” he said. “I knew I wanted to be here [in Kansas City]. So when I did that, I was like, ‘I’mma be here, I might as well build the exact house I want.’”
This, in fact, is not the couple’s first home together. In 2017, Patrick bought a two-bedroom condo in Kansas City, not long after the Chiefs drafted him. Two years later, he and Brittany moved into a renovated ranch house nearby, and in 2020, they added a Texas property as an off-season base. The Belton estate is the one built entirely on their own terms, from an empty plot up.
A massive football field, basketball court, and walk-in closet
What would a football player want in his house? Of course, a field to practice. The Kansas home has a massive 50-yard football field, that is double than any other training facility. The field is complete with his logo at midfield and ‘Mahomes’ written across the end zone. The Golfers in the family also have their own par-3 hole, including a bunker, with a pond just to add a bit of zest to every shot! The pools round out the outdoor lineup. The couple also set up a swim-up bar, perfect for the Missouri summers. The beautiful home also has an indoor basketball court, an all-black movie theatre, a reception room, a gigantic fish tank, a full bar, and a boutique-style walk-in closet to accommodate Patrick’s shoes. The floor-to-ceiling length sliding glass doors keep the interior bright.
Warm minimalism is written all over the home
The house has a neutral color palette to balance out the adventure outdoors. After the hectic schedules, the living room is where the family slows down. The soft cream walls and beige curtains create a tranquil atmosphere. The overall palette and furnishings are minimal, more like a ‘hushing our home’ concept, as the experts call it.Tash Bradley, Lick’s color psychologist, told Home & Gardens that minimalism is what creates a personal sanctuary, where one can unwind and feel completely safe. The place where they reset and recharge for the next day. “In order to hush your living room, avoid colors that can make a room feel visually cluttered and overstimulating, such as bright reds, oranges, or primary yellows. Instead, opt for colors that don’t ask too much from you,” the expert said. The shades of white, cream, and beige complement one another without being overpowering. Along with these classic choices, they have incorporated yellow- and red-based neutrals, earthy greens, gentle blues, and soft pinks for the furniture and other design elements. All these colours work in harmony and are easy on the eyes.“These warmer tones help to create a cozy, welcoming environment and act as the perfect backdrop to make your carefully selected items stand out and not look cluttered,” Tash explained.Minimal homes often tend to fall towards dullness, but the Mahomes have gave it a refreshing spin with the added colours. “Hushing is working out what you love most about the items in your home and working out which ones you want to keep and which ones to rehome. In hushed spaces, every item is chosen based on its level of usefulness, beauty, and the amount of joy you get from it, giving your space a curated feel. Anecdotally, at least, it’s true that a cluttered home creates a cluttered mind. A hushed home, by contrast, helps to hush a busy mind and helps you switch off,” Tash added.High school sweethearts Patrick and Brittany got married in 2022 and are raising three young children under this roof.
