Patna: The department of prohibition, excise and registration collected Rs8,403.46 crore in revenue during the 2025-26 financial year, exceeding its Rs8,250 crore target.This figures represents a 9.86% increase over the Rs7,648.88 crore collected in the 2024-25 fiscal. The collection has been made despite a 9% decrease in document volume, with 1.58 lakh fewer registrations than the previous year, said an official.Data released by the department shows that Patna district recorded the highest revenue at Rs1,506.15 crore against a Rs1,361.38 crore target. Other top-performing districts by revenue included Muzaffarpur at Rs416.58 crore, Motihari Rs401.40 crore, Gaya Rs305.36 crore and Bhagalpur Rs290.48 crore. The district registration office in Patna alone collected Rs696.51 crore, up from Rs 600.68 crore the previous year.By target percentage, Patna ranked first at 110.64%, followed by Arwal at 108.46%, Aurangabad at 107.38%, Banka at 106.29% and Sheohar at 103.31%. The number of documents registered statewide totalled 1,593,526. Despite the decline in volume, the average income per document rose from Rs43,670 to Rs49,699. On March 31, the department generated Rs107.74 crore in a single day, surpassing the previous record of Rs 67 crore set in 2024-25.
