Patna: The Combined Food and Drug Laboratory at Agamkuan in Patna has received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for a period of two years, a move expected to strengthen food-quality testing in Bihar.The accreditation covers 114 tests for food and food products, including 29 biological tests and 85 chemical tests. All tests are conducted in accordance with prescribed Indian standards and scientific methods approved by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).Officials said the recognition would enhance the laboratory’s capacity to carry out scientifically validated and standardised testing of a wide range of food products.The laboratory is equipped to test milk and dairy products, spices, edible oils and other food items for various safety and quality parameters, helping ensure compliance with food-safety norms and strengthening consumer protection in the state.
