Patiala: Patiala is set to host the fourth edition of the Military Literature Festival under the banner of the Patiala Heritage Festival, with the two-day event commencing at 10 am on Feb 12 at Khalsa College.Deputy commissioner Varjit Walia has extended an open invitation to district residents to participate in the festival, describing it as an enriching and educational experience for students as well as the general public.The festival is being organised by the district administration in collaboration with the Military Literature Festival Association, under the guidance of Lieutenant General (retd) Chetinder Singh, AVSM, SM, VSM. Punjab health minister Dr Balbir Singh is going to formally inaugurate the event.Ahead of the festival, nodal officer and ADC (urban development) Ismat Vijay Singh, along with RTO Babandeep Singh Walia, visited the venue to review and oversee the final preparations.According to officials, the festival was to feature panel discussions, inspiring narratives of valour and sacrifice, and exhibitions of military equipment. Special segments included the felicitation of Veer Naris (war widows), martial performances, floral tributes, and a brave-heart motorcycle rally.Visitors will also to witness archery demonstrations and competitions, while counselling desks will to provide guidance on recruitment opportunities in the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Punjab Police. A food court has also been set up at the venue.The DC noted that following an announcement by chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the district administration took a special initiative to institutionalise the event. He said the festival aimed to acquaint the youth with the rich legacy of the armed forces and motivate them to pursue careers in the defence services.With this edition, Patiala became the first district to successfully host the Military Literature Festival for four consecutive years, further cementing its place on Punjab’s cultural and intellectual map.MSID:: 128209348 413 |
