Udupi: A passenger travelling in an autorickshaw was killed after the vehicle collided with a car on the Moodubidire–Mundkur State Highway near Jarigekatte in Karkala taluk on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Srikanth.According to police, when an autorickshaw driven by Mohammed Kaif was proceeding from Sacheripete towards Jarigekatte with a passenger on board, the driver allegedly drove the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner, crashing into a car driven by complainant Anantha Padmanabha Acharya of Mundkur village, who was travelling from Mundkur towards Sacheripete.The impact caused the autorickshaw to overturn. The passenger, Srikanth, sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.The autorickshaw driver also sustained injuries in the accident. A case has been registered at Karkala Rural police station under sections 281, 125(a), and 106 of the BNS.
