Kolkata: A couple was attacked when they tried to stop a loud party that their tenant was having late at night at a flat they had rented out in West Chowbaga.The couple, who live on Tiljala Road, bought the flat in West Chowbaga in 2023 and only recently, rented it out to a young man for Rs 5,500 a month. The tenant moved in on Sept 13.The tenant threw a housewarming party in the fourth-floor flat on Sunday. As the party went on till late at night with loud music playing, neighbours got angry and gathered outside the building, police said. The neighbours also called the owners who rushed to the flat, apparently to calm down the situation and ask the tenant and his guests to stop the noise. It was around 12,20 am on Monday when the couple reached the flat. As they tried to speak to the partying group, the latter turned violent, police said. The group restrained the couple and punched and hit them with a stick, police added.The neighbours called police and Anandapur PS cops reached the spot. The accused apparently got into a scuffle with police as well. Around 1.40 am, police detained two men, whose alcohol test at Baghajatin State General Hospital showed they were drunk.Police registered an FIR under BNS sections for wrongful restraint, causing hurt, assault with dangerous weapons and common intention.
