The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the Demands for Grants of various ministries for 2026-27, approving an expenditure of over ₹53 lakh crore.The House passed the Demands for Grants by applying the guillotine.

Earlier, the Lok Sabha discussed the Demands for Grants for the ministries of Railways and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.

Applying the guillotine means that the Demands for Grants for the ministries, on which it is being applied, are considered approved without discussion.

No PLI Funds for Solar Gear Makers till Feb-end

Solar equipment manufacturers have not received any funds under the Rs 24,000-crore production linked incentive (PLI) scheme till February-end.

Under the scheme, letters of award have been issued for setting up 48,337 MW of fully/partially integrated solar PV module manufacturing capacity, minister for new and renewable energy Pralhad Joshi said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

The minister said as on February 28, 2026, no funds have been released under the scheme, as it provides for the release of PLI to successful bidders a year after commissioning of the manufacturing projects awarded under the scheme.

2 Uranium Mine Projects in Clearance Stages

Uranium Corporation of India, under Department of Atomic Energy, has planned to take up new uranium mining projects, said Union minister Jitendra Singh on Wednesday. This is in line with the targets for 2047 and initiatives to establish mine and mill plants with a capacity of 2,500 tonnes per day in Sikar district of Rajasthan, and another one at Jajwal Uranium Project, Chhattisgarh.

In a written reply to the LS, the minister said the projects were under various stages of obtaining statutory clearances.

The company is mandated to mine and process uranium ore and has undertaken initiatives to increase indigenous capability of uranium mining.
