The notification indicates that the change is aimed at easing scheduling pressures and providing students with more opportunities to align internships with their academic and professional plans

Chandigarh: Panjab University has revised its internship guidelines for undergraduate programmes, allowing students greater flexibility in completing mandatory credits.

According to an official notification issued by the university, the decision was taken after concerns were raised during a Faculty of Arts meeting on February 24 that restricting internships to the fifth semester could lead to administrative and academic difficulties.

The vice-chancellor has approved that students enrolled in courses such as BA, BSc, BCom, BCA and BBA, including honours and research programmes, may now undertake the 2/4 credit internship from the third semester onwards. The internship can also be completed during summer vacations instead of being confined to the fifth semester.

The notification indicates that the change is aimed at easing scheduling pressures and providing students with more opportunities to align internships with their academic and professional plans.

University authorities have directed the office of the Dean of University Instruction to circulate the updated guidelines across all departments. The office of the Dean of College Development Council has been asked to inform affiliated colleges.

Officials said the revised structure is expected to streamline implementation of internship requirements under the existing curriculum framework.
