 Srinagar, Mar 26 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday urged people not to rush to petrol pumps due to rumours, warning that panic buying could worsen the situation unnecessarily.

He said there is no shortage of fuel and appealed to the public to maintain calm and avoid forming long queues outside fuel stations.

Abdullah cautioned that if the rush continues due to misinformation, the government may be forced to temporarily shut petrol pumps to control the situation.

He said the government is closely monitoring developments and assured that fuel supplies remain adequate across the country.

Referring to a meeting convened by Narendra Modi, the chief minister said discussions would be held on the situation in Iran and surrounding regions, and measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities if the situation prolongs.

He reiterated that there is no need for panic and urged people to rely on official information.(KNS).
