Jaipur: Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on Sunday warned that the ongoing Panchna dam dispute could lead to caste tensions and urged the state government to intervene and hold talks with the Gurjar and Meena communities to resolve the issue.
Gehlot alleged the government’s approach was aggravating the situation and creating conditions for conflict.

“The way the government is functioning, it appears that such a situation is being created. In Panchna dam issue, there is already tension between communities.
The government should have called representatives, panch-patels and public representatives from both sides and tried to find a solution,” he said. He said that despite nearly two to three weeks of protests, no meaningful dialogue had been initiated by the government.
