Berhampur: Chairman of panchayat samiti, Sheragada block in Ganjam district, Krushna Chandra Nayak was seriously injured when a group of people allegedly assaulted him near the block office at Sheragada on Tuesday afternoon. He was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital and his condition is said to be critical. Police suspected the incident might be caused due to the dispute over tender. “The exact cause of the incident was not known immediately, but we suspected it might be the sudden provocation over the tender issue,” said Santosh Kumar Jena, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Aska. No one was arrested.
