Daltonganj: Panki police in Palamu have intensified the search for Santoo, a man in his mid-thirties, who has been absconding since Aug 16 after allegedly killing his father, Jagat Pal Singh (60), at Matouli village under Taal panchayat.SDPO Lesliganj Prashant Kumar said Santoo attacked his father with a sharp-edged weapon on the intervening night of Aug 15 and 16. The deceased had deep cut wounds on his head and marks of lathi blows on his limbs, the officer said.Santoo allegedly bundled the body in a blanket and took it to a dense forest at Taal, about 900 metres from the house, where he camouflaged it with fallen leaves and branches.Police, with villagers’ help, retrieved the body on Aug 16. The post-mortem was conducted at MMCH, Daltonganj, the same day.Police sources said Santoo misinformed relatives and villagers that his father died accidentally after falling and suffering fatal injuries. Villagers initially believed his version.However, the mukhiya, whose name has been withheld, alerted local police about the body.
