Guwahati: Bharatiya Kisan Sangh’s Dibrugarh district unit distributed paddy seedlings to flood-affected farmers in Sivasagar district, helping them restart cultivation after the floods.According to a press statement, farmers from Jamira, Tengakhat and Khowang in Dibrugarh prepared around 1,100 bundles of paddy seedlings for Sivasagar.The seedlings were distributed on Sunday in Mechagarh, a remote area badly hit by flooding. The effort was led by district president Luken Kalita and secretary Bipul Gogoi, along with other members of the organisation, who transported the seedlings and handed them over directly to farmers.The statement noted that many farmers in Mechagarh had been unable to arrange paddy seedlings until now. The organisation said the initiative has brought hope and confidence to the farming community. Around 100 farmers received seedlings.Bharatiya Kisan Sangh described the effort as “farmer-to-farmer support”, highlighting community cooperation and self-reliance to help flood-affected agricultural households recover their livelihoods.
