New Delhi: The household belongings of an east Delhi resident allegedly vanished after he hired a packers and movers service to transport them to Bihar, only to be allegedly extorted for an additional Rs 20,000 with no delivery in sight. One man has been arrested in connection with the case.The complainant, who had hired the packers and movers, said that the company collected part of the goods on July 1 and the remaining items on July 8, police said. Instead of delivering the consignment, the accused allegedly demanded an additional Rs 20,000. The complainant initially paid Rs 500 and later transferred Rs 19,500, but neither were the goods delivered nor was the money returned. An eFIR was registered at Laxmi Nagar police station.“A team analysed technical and electronic evidence and placed the mobile number used by the accused under surveillance,” said DCP (east) Rajeev Kumar. Police identified the accused as Ajay Kumar Singh (26), a resident of Vishnu Garden in Gurgaon, Haryana.Singh was subsequently tracked and nabbed, and cops recovered the entire consignment of household goods. During interrogation, he disclosed the location of the complainant’s belongings, leading to their recovery.Investigation revealed that Singh was also wanted in a cheating case registered at Shakarpur police station.
