New Delhi: An elderly woman died after she was allegedly run over by a cluster bus near Pooth Kalan bus stand in outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri on Saturday. The incident triggered outrage among locals, who allegedly pelted stones at the bus following the accident.The driver reportedly made a PCR call informing police about the incident before fleeing the spot, police said.The deceased has been identified as Indira, a 60-year-old resident of Sultanpuri who worked as a home nurse and caretaker. She was reportedly returning home when the accident took place.A police team rushed Indira to a nearby hopsital, where she was declared brought dead.Cops added that locals had allegedly started pelting stones, breaking the glasses of the bus. The bus, had been abandoned by the driver by the time police arrived.A police officer said, “Of the three PCR calls, the first was made by residents, the second by the bus driver himself and the third by the victim’s family members.”A case has been registered. The bus driver has been identified and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him.TOI reached out to DTC for a response on the incident.
