Noida: An overloaded transformer in Arun Vihar caused a seven-hour outage, while sectors 50, 71, 75, 63, and others face daily power cuts lasting 1-2 hours. Most disruptions were the result of equipment overload and cable faults triggered by rain, power department officials said.“Recently, ABC (air circuit breaker) cables were laid by the power department in parts of Arun Vihar with the claim that this would stabilise the power supply. But the department has failed to deliver on its promises,” said Colonel (Retd) IP Singh, chairman of Arun Vihar RWA comprising sectors 28, 29, and 37.In a letter to officials, Singh said that there was a serious lack of load planning and infrastructure management. “At present, the entire load of about 1,500 houses (four wards), a hotel, and Ambedkar Vihar has been put on only one transformer, which is technically unjustified,’ he wrote. A similar complaint of frequent outages was reported from Sector 50. TNN
