Bhilwara: Police seized more than 500kg of illegal opium doda chura concealed beneath sacks of animal feed in a container truck in Chittorgarh district and arrested two men from Punjab, officials said on Friday.According to police, the seizure was made during a highway blockade near Wander Pulia under the Nimbahera Sadar police station area.Superintendent of police Manish Tripathi said a police team led by station house officer Sanjay Sharma had set up a checkpoint to monitor illegal narcotics movement in the district.During checking, a Maharashtra-registered container approaching from the Neemuch side was signalled to stop. Police said the driver attempted to flee, but the vehicle was intercepted after a brief chase.On searching the container, officers found 25 sacks containing 502kg and 500 grams of doda chura hidden beneath bags of animal feed.Police arrested Paramjit Singh, 60, and Gurprit Singh, 45, both residents of Punjab. The container and the contraband were seized.A case has been registered under the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway.
