Pune: Relentless rain left a trail of disruption across the city on Saturday, with nearly 30 tree-fall incidents between morning and afternoon.The Pune fire brigade responded to 24 such calls, while the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade received 27 tree-fall-related calls between July 3 and July 4 (till 5pm). Officials confirmed that despite the widespread damage, no casualties or injuries were reported. Of the 27 incidents in Pimpri Chinchwad, 12 occurred on July 3 and 15 on July 4.These incidents affected several key localities including Ganesh Peth, Hadapsar, Kothrud, Wakadewadi, Koregaon Park, Senapati Bapat Road, Yerawada, Vishrantwadi, Warje, Kondhwa and Pashan. “On Friday night, strong winds uprooted a massive tree on Senapati Bapat Road that crashed onto a parked car, damaging the vehicle,” a fire brigade official said.As roads were blocked and traffic movement disrupted in multiple areas, fire brigade personnel raced from one location to another. “Our teams rushed to these locations, cut the fallen trees into pieces and cleared the roads to restore traffic flow,” the official said.Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade officials said most fallen trees obstructed roads, causing significant inconvenience to commuters as heavy rain continued to lash the region.
