Jhansi: The district witnessed a massive disposal of cases during the National Lok Adalat held at the district court premises on Saturday, where a record 2,72,743 cases were settled in a single day. The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Kamlesh Kachhal in the presence of judicial officers, advocates and bank officials.Addressing the gathering, the district judge said that the inclusion of technology in the judicial system would make the justice delivery process more transparent, dynamic and accessible. She urged people to actively participate in Lok Adalats to ensure speedy and affordable justice while avoiding unnecessary hardship in routine legal matters.According to officials, the disposed cases included 154 matrimonial disputes, 63 civil cases, 1,326 miscellaneous matters and 11,614 compoundable criminal cases, through which fines worth Rs 7 lakh were recovered.Revenue and criminal courts also settled 184 revenue disputes, 1,058 criminal matters, 10,537 electricity consumer disputes, 142 labour disputes and 88,359 public grievance guarantee cases. In addition, 909 pre-litigation bank loan recovery matters and 10 mobile bill disputes involving over Rs 6 crore were resolved during the Lok Adalat proceedings.On the occasion, the district judiciary also inaugurated an E-Seva Centre and a Free Legal Help Desk aimed at modernising and simplifying judicial services for litigants and lawyers.The E-Seva Centre will provide facilities including case status updates, e-filing assistance, online certified copies, e-payment services, digital signature support and e-meeting bookings for jail inmates. Trained para-legal volunteers will assist visitors at the Free Legal Help Desk.The Family Court also achieved a significant breakthrough by reconciling 16 estranged couples through counselling sessions conducted under judicial supervision. Out of these, six couples agreed to resume their married life and marked the occasion by exchanging garlands and sweets in the presence of judicial officers and legal services officials.
