Gurgaon: More than one lakh consumers in south Haryana have applied for rooftop solar under a central govt scheme.Under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, 62,455 solar plants have been installed, adding 221.9 MW of decentralised power generation capacity across the region.Of the 1,01,845 applications received, 61,813 connections have been released so far, leaving a difference of more than 40,000 applications at various stages of processing or completion, while 52,632 beneficiaries have received Rs 380.8 crore in subsidy, according to data released by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) on Tuesday.DHBVN, which has set a target of 1.2 lakh solar connections by March 2027, has achieved around 51% of the target.Officials have been directed to speed up scrutiny of pending applications, site inspections and release of connections.The scale of adoption means an average rooftop installation under the scheme is generating about 3.55 kW of capacity.The subsidy distributed so far works out to an average of about Rs 72,300 per beneficiary.The progress, however, remains uneven across the utility’s two zones.Hisar zone accounts for the bulk of the installations, with 36,291 rooftop solar plants having been installed against 62,455 across DHBVN. The installations have a combined capacity of 119.41 MW — more than half of the total 221.9 MW added under the scheme.The zone has received 62,282 applications, issued 35,952 connections and distributed Rs 231.36 crore in subsidy to 31,616 beneficiaries. It has achieved 66% of its target.Delhi zone, by comparison, has recorded 26,164 installations with a combined capacity of 102.49 MW from 39,563 applications. It has issued 25,861 connections and distributed Rs 149.5 crore in subsidy to 21,016 beneficiaries. Its target achievement stands at 38%.The circle-wise figures show an even wider variation. Rewari and Sirsa have already crossed their March 2027 targets, recording 106% achievement each. Fatehabad is at 86%, Hisar at 63%, Gurgaon-II at 48%, Narnaul at 46%, Bhiwani at 45%, Gurgaon-I at 41% and Jind at 37%.At the bottom are Faridabad and Palwal, which have achieved only 15% and 11% of their respective targets.The figures also point to a significant gap between demand and completed connections.DHBVN has said it is accelerating the process to ensure eligible consumers receive the benefit within the stipulated timeframe.DHBVN managing director Vikram Singh has directed officials to personally review pending applications and expedite inspections and connection release.The scheme is aimed at increasing rooftop solar generation among households while reducing dependence on grid power.With 221.9 MW of rooftop capacity already installed, the utility now has to add another 59,545 connections to reach its March 2027 target of 1.2 lakh.
