Pune: Over 1.7 lakh candidates in Maharashtra are vying for over 10,000 teaching posts in state govt schools. A fresh round of recruitment is set to begin across the state, with the school education department directing institutions to publish vacancy advertisements by May 31 on ‘Pavitra’, a dedicated portal for teacher recruitments. The recruitment will cover teaching positions from Classes 1-12 across different subject groups. With thousands of candidates already qualified and waiting for jobs, the upcoming recruitment drive is expected to see significant participation, offering a much needed opportunity for aspiring teachers across the state. “The process has already started, and the managements of schools run by local self-govt bodies as well as private institutions have been given a window from May 1-31 to upload and publish the details of vacant posts,” said education commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh. Once institutions upload details of their vacancies on the Pavitra portal, the information will be reviewed by the respective divisional deputy directors of education. Advertisements will be generated only after the official approval is granted. The recruitment follows last year’s teacher aptitude and intelligence test, which saw strong participation. Around 2.3 lakh candidates had registered for the exam, of whom 2.1 lakh appeared for it. Of these, 1.7 lakh candidates have completed their self-certification process, making them eligible for the next stage of recruitment.
