T’puram: The blood donation platform of Kerala Police, Pol-Blood, has registered 1,23,004 donors, emerging as a significant initiative to ensure timely availability of blood during emergencies.Launched in 2021 in association with Kerala State AIDS Control Society, the platform operates through the official Kerala Police mobile application. The initiative aims to promote voluntary blood donation by connecting willing donors with patients in need.The service is open to both individuals seeking blood and volunteers willing to donate.According to official data, the Pol-Blood platform has received 88,936 blood requests, covering a demand for 1,21,913 units of blood. Of these, 60,626 units have been successfully arranged and supplied through the system.To streamline the process of coordinating blood donations and meeting emergency requests, Kerala Police has also established a dedicated Pol-Blood control room. Public can contact the control room for assistance at 9497990500.Police officials said the initiative has played an important role in improving access to blood across the state by creating a reliable network of voluntary donors and facilitating faster responses during medical emergencies.
