Bhubaneswar: Govt on Saturday dismissed Odisha taxation and accounts services (OT&AS) officer Bhimsen Tudu for his alleged role in abetting the suicide of Chandrika Hembram, a MBBS student.Officials said Tudu had been newly recruited and had not joined the induction training. He was in police custody for interrogation, which led govt to initiate disciplinary proceeding. “Newly appointed OT&AS officer Bhimasen Tudu has been dismissed from govt service following strict action taken by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi. In the future, Tudu will also not be considered eligible for any govt job,” a communication from govt said.Notably, officials said Tudu, who had recently joined OT&AS, remained absent from his induction training since June 4, 2026. He also did not appear for his final examination at the Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management (MDRAFM).“During this period, he was arrested by Barang police in connection with a death case and was sent to judicial custody. Since he was detained by police for more than 48 hours in a criminal case, legal provisions were invoked and he was directly dismissed from govt service,” the communication read.
