Gadchiroli: The Regional Meteorological Centre, Nagpur, has issued an orange alert for Gadchiroli district on Wednesday (Oct 28), warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph.The district disaster management authority has urged residents and farmers to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions in view of the adverse weather forecast.On Oct 29, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected at most places, with isolated instances of heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds. Light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places on Oct 30.The authority has advised people to avoid venturing outdoors during thunderstorms and seek shelter inside safe buildings. Residents have been cautioned against taking shelter under tall trees, near electric poles or metal structures, and in temporary sheds. They should also stay away from water bodies, metal objects and electrical appliances during lightning.Farmers have been advised to plan agricultural activities according to weather forecasts and official advisories. Residents should monitor weather updates and follow instructions issued by the administration.The district disaster management authority has also urged all concerned departments to take necessary precautionary measures.
