Optical illusions don’t just play tricks on your eyes—they quietly reflect what’s happening in your inner world. This particular test, shared by Dasha Takisho on social media recently, uses a powerful image: an old man’s face and a hand. At first glance, it might look like just another viral picture, but what you notice first can say a lot about where you are emotionally right now. Are you carrying unspoken weight from the past? Or are you clinging to control and logic to feel safe?According to Dasha, seeing the old man or the hand first reveals whether you’re living more in emotional heaviness or in mental control mode. Neither is “wrong” or “bad”; both are simply different ways of coping with life, pain, and uncertainty. The beauty of this test isn’t that it labels you, but that it gently invites you to pause, reflect, and maybe be a little more honest with yourself about how you’re really doing beneath the surface.

1. If you saw the old man first, it means…

Explaining what it means, Dasha wrote in the post, “You may be carrying a lot more inside than you show. There’s a sense of emotional weight — past experiences, fears, or unresolved feelings that you’ve learned to live with instead of fully processing.”She added, “You might distract yourself with work, control, or routine, avoiding what feels too heavy to face. On the surface, everything looks stable. But underneath, there can be vulnerability, fatigue, and unspoken pain,” Dasha explained.”She further wrote what one should do in such situations:“Start noticing where you choose control instead of honesty with yourself.Talk about what you feel — even if it’s uncomfortable. Not everything needs to be “handled” — some things need to be felt.”

2. If you saw the hand first, it means…

“You are used to staying in control. You rely on logic, structure, and predictability. You feel safer when everything is clear and manageable.“But this same control can block deeper connection — with yourself and others. Some parts of life require softness, trust, and emotional openness… and that can feel uncomfortable or even unsafe.Sometimes you’re not avoiding what’s bad — you’re avoiding what could actually make you happy, because it requires vulnerability,” she added.Explaining what one should do in such situations, she said:“Notice where you overthink instead of taking a simple step.Allow yourself not to know everything in advance.Real growth often begins where control ends.”So, what did you see first and how true was the test result for you?
