COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police have arrested ten people linked to online financial frauds in the first two days after the launch of the Operation Cyber Vigil to crack down on cybercrimes.With cyber fraud and financial crimes surging at a higher rate than traditional law enforcement offences in recent months, the Tamil Nadu police launched the special drive in the state on Thursday to identify and apprehend cyber fraudsters.According to official sources, 130 people were arrested across the state under this initiative till Friday evening. Among them, ten people were nabbed in Coimbatore.A city cybercrime cell officer said, “We have arrested ten people so far, including those who rented out their bank accounts for commission (mule accounts) and agents acting on behalf of cyber fraud syndicates. As the operation is going on, further arrests are expected.”Police are leveraging advanced technological tracking to monitor several other suspects linked to cyber fraud networks.
