Chandigarh: MP Manish Tewari Saturday inaugurated an open-air gym at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, developed under the MPLAD Fund at a cost of around Rs 2.43 lakh.Tewari said public fitness infrastructure was key to promoting a healthier lifestyle and urged residents to make regular exercise part of their daily routine. Municipal commissioner Amit Kumar said the civic body remained committed to creating quality public amenities, while area councillor Mahesh Inder Sidhu said the facility would benefit senior citizens, youth and morning walkers. Residents and RWA members welcomed the initiative.Japanese Garden to get faceliftMC chief engineer Sanjay Arora inspected the Japanese Garden in Sector 31 Saturday and directed officials to undertake comprehensive maintenance and improvement works. The instructions included repairs to pathways, lighting, signboards and the entrance, installation of standardised dustbins and display boards, enhancement of sculptures and decorative lighting, strengthening CCTV surveillance and security measures, and completion of all pending works in a time-bound manner.
