Chandrapur: A violent clash between two groups over sand mining and boundary demarcation left one person dead and two injured near Wardha river in Warora taluka on Sunday night.The deceased has been identified as Bharat Nagpal (40), a resident of Pulgaon in Wardha district. The incident took place at Bamurda ghat, once again bringing the contentious issue of sand mining and related territorial disputes into focus.
According to preliminary information, the state govt had auctioned the sand ghat at Dhiwari-Pipar on Vena river in Hinganghat taluka of Wardha district. However, disagreements over excavation rights and boundary limits led to a confrontation between two groups from Wardha district late Sunday night. The argument escalated into a physical fight.Police launched an investigation soon after receiving information about the incident. Warora police have registered a case, and three persons initially detained by Wadner police in Wardha district have been handed over to Warora authorities.Police sources identified the arrested accused as Atul Motghare, Sunil Zore and Prafull Umate.
