LUCKNOW: A speeding car rammed into a motorcycle in the Gomtinagar Extension area late Sunday night, killing one person and injuring another. The car driver fled the scene with the vehicle following the collision.Station House Officer (SHO) Sudhir Awasthi said that the deceased, identified as Shaswat Singh (40), a resident of Lalbagh, was riding pillion with his friend Abhinav Chauhan, a resident of Vishisht Vihar Colony. Around 12.30am, the duo had refueled their Bullet at the Malese Mau petrol pump and were heading back when the speeding car, approaching from the opposite direction, struck their bike.The impact threw both riders off the motorcycle, leaving them critically injured. Locals rushed to the spot, but the driver managed to flee. The injured were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared Shaswat dead during treatment, the police said.Police have sent the body for post-mortem. Based on the car’s registration number provided by the family, an FIR has been lodged.“ The police are conducting raids to trace the absconding car driver and have collected CCTV footage from the vicinity to aid the investigation,” said SHO Awasthi.The deceased worked as sales manager with a stationery manufacturing company and has left behind two kids.
