Kanpur: Police arrested Satnam Singh, who carried a reward of Rs 25,000, from Lucknow for allegedly embezzling Rs 81.6 lakh in the name of providing jobs in the municipal corporation.He was arrested from Jankipuram in Lucknow with the help of informers and surveillance.AK Bajpai, a resident of Pashupati Nagar in Naubasta, filed a case against Satnam, a resident of IIT Devi Sahay Nagar, in 2023. He stated that Satnam had lured him in 2020 by citing good connections in the government to provide jobs in the municipal corporation.Trusting his words, Bajpai handed over Rs 81.60 lakh for jobs for several youths. The accused also provided joining letters, which later turned out to be fake.Despite demands for the money to be returned, the accused allegedly evaded them and later absconded. Police searched for him but did not find any clue, after which a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced against him.The investigation revealed that several cases were already registered against the accused. Police said he was an inter-state fraudster and carried out similar fraud in Kushinagar as well.Inspector Kalyanpur police station said that the cunning criminal was arrested, and action was being taken to send him to jail.
