Lucknow: BJP central leadership is understood to have stepped in to ensure better coordination between Yogi govt and UP BJP unit as the party prepares for the 2027 UP elections. The issue of coordinated functioning, a message relayed repeatedly by RSS, has set in motion a series of high-level meetings between the state organisational leaders and UP ministers amid signs of an internal churn.Party sources said UP BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary and state general secretary (organisation) Dharam Pal Singh have been regularly engaging with CM Yogi Adityanath and deputy CMs, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, before taking crucial decisions, including the organisational rejig in different districts. The message, sources said, was pointedly conveyed after Maurya met Union home minister Amit Shah in Delhi earlier this week. Since then, both Maurya and Pathak have been present at the state party office for key meetings — the latest held on Friday evening for nominating party functionaries to different boards and corporations. On March 22, Chaudhary and Singh reached Pathak’s house to discuss various topics related to organisational matters and govt-organisation coordination. The meeting came just two days after a core committee meeting was convened at the CM’s residence in Lucknow. The meeting, attended by senior RSS functionaries, too, laid out a structured blueprint of the organisational reshuffle as well as the much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle. The growing coordinatio, sources said, is being seen as part of a broader strategy to streamline communication, reduce friction, and ensure better alignment between governance priorities and party messaging. Sources said that the move follows feedback from the central leadership that gaps between govt and the organisation could impact grassroots mobilisation if not addressed in time.A senior UP BJP functionary told TOI that the leadership wants to ensure that policy decisions taken by UP govt are communicated to party workers and voters, especially at the mandal and booth levels. Yogi is understood to be fully on board with the initiative, with officials saying that efforts are underway to create a more synchronised framework where ministers regularly engage with district and mandal-level office-bearers.The deputy CMs, in particular, have been tasked to bridge any disconnect and ensure that organisational concerns are factored into administrative functioning. Party insiders describe the ongoing phase as one of “organisational recalibration”, with possible changes in responsibilities and roles within the state unit. The meetings are also focusing on reviewing the performance of various govt schemes, identifying local-level issues, and sharpening the party’s outreach strategy. The renewed push for coordination comes at a time when BJP is aiming to consolidate its electoral base in Uttar Pradesh while countering the Samajwadi Party and its ally Congress. By tightening the link between governance delivery and party structure, the leadership aims to reinforce its narrative of efficient administration backed by a strong organisational network, analysts said.Political observers note that such exercises have in the past played a crucial role in BJP’s electoral strategy, especially in a politically significant state like Uttar Pradesh.
