Times News NetworkKanpur: Amidst the ongoing rains in the city over the past few days, the collapse of dilapidated houses continues. On Saturday morning, an old, dilapidated house in Neel Wali Gali on Birhana Road suddenly collapsed. Since no one was inside it at the time of the incident, there was no loss of life.The old house belonged to a trust and one Ram Kumar, a resident of Kolkata was trustee of that house. One Nawal used to live there along with his family. It was already in a very poor condition, with cracks appearing in several parts, including the walls. Continuous rain had further weakened its structure.On Saturday morning, a portion of the house suddenly collapsed with a loud crash. Hearing the noise, people from the neighbourhood rushed to the scene, causing a commotion in the area. According to locals, the house had long been in a dilapidated state, and the risk of collapse increased following the rains.Upon receiving information about the incident, police and the municipal corporation team arrived at the site. The team inspected the location and initiated the debris removal process. Councillor Vikas Jaiswal stated that the municipal corporation team was summoned to the site and instructed to clear the debris.In another incident, a 2,800-year-old historical mound situated along the banks of the Ganga in Jajmau, has cracked once again. As a section of the mound shifted, parts of two houses slid into the river, causing goods worth thousands of rupees kept inside the homes to be swept away by the strong current. The incident came to light around 3 pm on Saturday.According to local residents, a portion of the storeroom in Mukhtar’s house situated right at the edge of the mound suddenly collapsed into the Ganges. The storeroom contained the household belongings of tenants.………………..
