Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday issued stern warning to officials, saying waterlogging anywhere in the city would not be tolerated and negligence in drainage management would invite strict action.Reviewing development projects, flood preparedness and drainage arrangements at a meeting in the Annexe Bhawan auditorium, the chief minister directed officials to ensure comprehensive cleaning of drains and sewers, removal of encroachments and continuous operation of pumping stations during heavy rainfall. He stressed that all necessary measures should be taken to prevent water accumulation in any part of the city.Taking note of recent waterlogging incidents in areas such as Rapti Complex, Goraksh Enclave, Vijay Chowk and Dharmshala, Yogi instructed the municipal corporation to maintain drains regularly, cover open drains after cleaning and operate all pumps at full capacity. He also called for public awareness campaigns against dumping waste into drains and directed officials to intensify sanitation drives, fogging and anti-larval spraying with active public participation.The chief minister asked officials to make cleanliness drives a routine activity in both urban and rural areas, ensure proper waste disposal, maintain streetlights and CCTV systems, and streamline street vending zones.Reviewing flood preparedness, Yogi directed authorities to keep embankments under constant surveillance, activate flood outposts and ensure adequate arrangements at relief centres. He also instructed health officials to maintain sufficient stocks of anti-snake venom and anti-rabies vaccines across govt health facilities.
