Bhubaneswar: Doctors in govt hospitals under aegis of Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) threatened to resign en masse over pay parity, cadre restructuring and dynamic assured career progression similar to the central scale. tnnOMSA president Dr Kishore Chandra Mishra said more than 8,500 doctors are working at different govt hospitals. Apart from this, around 2,500 doctors are working in different medical colleges and hospitals on deputation basis. “In Jan, govt assured us to resolve the matter and fulfil our demands, but no significant steps have been taken so far. That’s why we are planning to resign from our posts,” Mishra said.He said the action committee of OMSA will decide when the doctors resign from their jobs. Health secretary Aswathy S refrained from commenting on the issue.
