As many as 989 applications were received during the additional round, of which 629 were verified by block education officers, after which 501 students were allotted the seats.

Bhubaneswar: As many as 501 students belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups (DG) were allotted seats in eligible private schools following an additional round of a centralised online lottery under the Right to Education (RTE) Paradarshi Portal for the academic year 2026-27.

The online student allotment was conducted by the school and the mass education department to provide admission opportunities to children from economically weaker sections (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups (DG).

As many as 989 applications were received during the additional round, of which 629 were verified by block education officers, after which 501 students were allotted the seats.

Officials said the admission process for the students allotted seats in this round commenced on Sept 1 and will continue till Sept 19.

The online allotment and lottery-based process is intended to ensure transparency in the selection and admission of eligible children under the RTE provisions, officials added.
