Nagpur: The implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) at Nagpur University (NU) has come under scrutiny, with the university yet to determine the workload for faculty members teaching various subjects even three years after introducing the policy.The issue came to the fore during the adjourned meeting of NU Senate held on Monday, where members expressed serious concern over the lack of clarity surrounding the implementation of NEP. Senate members pointed out that under NEP framework, the curriculum comprises 10 verticals, of which seven are associated with major components and three with minor components.A senate member said around 70 teaching hours are required for these verticals, but there is still no clarity regarding the eligibility of faculty members who are expected to teach them. He demanded that the workload for these subjects be formally determined.Responding to this, NU officials said the matter had not yet been finalised at govt level as the first batch of students under the new system is yet to graduate. They informed Senate that, according to govt, the workload norms would not be available until the first batch completes its programme. NU officials announced that a steering committee would be constituted to examine the issue.
