Patna: Examinations for ANM and GNM courses have not been conducted in the state for the past three years, affecting the careers of more than 50,000 students, JD(U) MLA Manjit Singh said during Question Hour on Friday.Health minister Mangal Pandey acknowledged the delay and assured that examinations for the 2023-24 academic session would be held in March-April. He admitted that ANM and GNM exams have remained pending for three years and added that examinations for the 2024-25 session would also be conducted soon. Necessary guidelines have been issued to the relevant universities and institutions to ensure regular conduct of examinations, he said.The minister added that the department is working continuously to streamline the examination system. The government is making concerted efforts to ensure that students pursuing these critical healthcare courses receive their degrees on time and are not deprived of employment opportunities, he said.Responding to another question, the health minister said the government would not implement a domicile policy in dental colleges as the matter is pending before the Patna High Court. Dental students had urged the government to introduce a 100 per cent domicile policy.In response to a question from BJP MLA Vinay Bihari regarding full-time recruitment in the Bihar Dental Council and the move to make the entire process online, the minister said the government is working to simplify procedures and enhance transparency for dentists in Bihar.He added that efforts are under way to make registration, renewal and other administrative processes more convenient. The state government is also moving towards digitising the entire system, keeping in mind convenience and transparency for dentists.AIMIM MLA Akhtarul Imam raised the issue of the monitoring committee not having met in the past five years. He said the committee’s purpose is to oversee government schemes and administrative work to ensure the public benefits properly. He alleged that in the absence of a committee at the subdivision level, several schemes are not being adequately monitored.
