Kanksa: A 24-year-old nurse was found dead on the ground floor of a multi-storeyed residential building in the Gopalpur area of Kanksa, West Burdwan district, on Wednesday night.Preliminary findings suggest the victim, Mandira Pal, fell from the eighth floor around 8 pm. Police are investigating whether the incident was a suicide or involved foul play. Pal was an employee at a private medical college and hospital in Malandighi. Her body has been sent to Durgapur Sub-Divisional Hospital for an autopsy.Pal’s family has alleged murder, dismissing the possibility of suicide. According to relatives, she last spoke to her mother on Wednesday before leaving for her shift. She resided at the hostel of the private medical college.Authorities stated it is too early to determine the exact cause of death. “We cannot confirm the circumstances at this moment. The postmortem report will provide more clarity,” a police officer said.
