Biharsharif: Nalanda University (NU) continued its engagement in national policy and development discussions by participating in a two-day national conference at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, which concluded on Monday.Titled “Technology and Science for Transformation of Tribal India – Opportunities, Aspirations and Pathways,” the conference was inaugurated by Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan. It was organised by the department of science and technology in collaboration with the North East Centre for Technology Application and Research and Doon Sanskriti School.On the second day, NU vice-chancellor Sachin Chaturvedi chaired a key session on “Technology for Livelihoods, Entrepreneurship and Community Empowerment.” The session brought together experts including Arun Kumar Sharma, Amey Karkare, Anurag Pandey and Manipur-based entrepreneur N Irabanta Singh, who discussed technology-driven livelihoods and grassroots empowerment.Addressing the session, Chaturvedi stressed the need for digital infrastructure capable of functioning without internet connectivity or electricity to ensure financial inclusion in remote tribal areas. He said linking the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana with digital public infrastructure could significantly expand its reach and impact.The NU reiterated its commitment to fostering dialogue that integrates knowledge, technology and inclusive development.
