Nagpur: As part of reforms aimed at expediting examination results and improving transparency, Nagpur University (NU) is preparing to do away with its long-standing revaluation process. Now, students will be provided scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets, enabling them to directly verify the assessment of their papers.The NU administration made the announcement during the adjourned Senate meeting held on Monday at Jamnalal Bajaj Administrative Building, where delays in declaring re-examination results emerged as a key issue of discussion.The Senate meeting, which had earlier been postponed on Sept 9, saw members raise concerns over the recurring delay in the declaration of re-examination results. Several other members supported the proposal, urging the administration to address the issue.Responding to concerns, NU exam officials said the administration intends to eliminate the revaluation system by Summer 2027 examinations. As part of the transition, students will be provided with scanned copies of their answer books, allowing them to review the evaluation themselves. The system will be introduced on a pilot basis from Winter 2026 examinations, initially covering the LLB programme and a select few other faculties.The officials also indicated greater accountability would be introduced for examiners evaluating answer sheets, with the university working towards fixing responsibility for assessment-related discrepancies.Under the proposed framework, students who believe their answer sheets have not been evaluated correctly after reviewing the scanned copies will be able to approach the university’s Grievance Redressal Committee. The committee will examine complaints and provide appropriate remedies.University officials say the move will significantly reduce delays associated with the current revaluation process while ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in exam administration.
