Nagpur: A day after TOI reported that Nagpur University’s Dr Ambedkar School of Law was missing from Maharashtra’s centralised law admission portal, the institution’s principal expressed confidence that the college would receive Bar Council of India (BCI) approval and be included in State CET Cell’s admission list by Friday.Principal Ravi Mor said the university had completed all formalities required by BCI and submitted the necessary documents along with the prescribed fees.“We have already sent all the documents and required fees to BCI office. We don’t know why our name was excluded. We have sent two of our teachers to BCI office in Mumbai for clearing any confusion. We are hopeful that our college name would likely be included in CET Cell list by Friday,” he told TOI.The development follows concerns after Dr Ambedkar School of Law and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Law College, run by Deekshabhoomi Smarak Samiti, did not feature in State CET Cell’s preference list for the ongoing centralised admission process for the three- and five-year LLB course.A senior Nagpur University official questioned the timing of the admission process, noting that July 31 was the deadline for colleges to complete BCI compliance. “CET Cell should not have rushed with admissions. It could have waited for a week. With only around 60 of nearly 175 law colleges on the list, how are students expected to make informed choices?” the official said.Mor advised aspirants targeting the university’s law school not to panic. “Students aspiring for admission to NU Law School should wait for the third round if required, especially those with around 90% in the entrance examination. We expect our name to be included by Friday, which is also the last date for preference filling,” he said.The report triggered anxiety among students and parents, many of whom contacted TOI seeking clarity on whether the two premier institutions would be added to the admission list or whether they should opt for other colleges.“Our daughter wants admission only in these two top colleges, which are missing from the list. We don’t know whether to wait for their inclusion or take admission elsewhere and later switch,” a concerned parent said.
