Patna: NTPC Kanti achieved 126% ash utilisation this year, marking a significant milestone in sustainable power generation while continuing to maintain high safety standards and expand its community development initiatives.This was stated by Sanjib Kumar Suar, head of project, NTPC Kanti, while addressing a press meet held at the station on Monday. “NTPC Kanti maintained an excellent safety record with no fatal accidents reported in the last four years, reflecting the strong safety culture and dedication of employees. Continuous efforts are also being made to enhance operational efficiency and generation capacity,” he said.Speaking about NTPC’s social commitment, Suar informed that weekly medical camps are being organised in nearby villages, benefiting thousands of residents. A dedicated ambulance service for pregnant women and newborns was also introduced to provide health check-ups, free medicines, and essential medical tests.To promote education, two smart classrooms were established in local schools, while under the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM), 40 girls from the Kanti region receive one month of residential training every year.For promoting women’s economic empowerment, skill development programmes such as sewing machine training, bakery training, and pickle-making training are being conducted.NTPC Kanti also supported local infrastructure development through road and drainage construction and distributed around 900 desks in nearby schools. Demonstrating its commitment to environmental protection, the station planted over 70,000 saplings so far.To improve employment prospects for local youth, 18 students were sponsored for training at CIPET, Hajipur, and all of them successfully secured employment.On the occasion, Debesh Kumar Padhi, GM (O&M), Mahesh Suthar, AGM (HR), along with other senior officials and department heads, were present.
