Surat: Pal police registered a case against a man for allegedly establishing physical relations with an NRI woman using deceitful means, after befriending her on Instagram and promising to marry her. The man also allegedly subjected her to casteist slurs.The two met on social media in May 2023 and had sexual relations several times at hotels in Surat and Bhuj.According to the complaint, Dharam Vora, resident of Madhapar in Bhuj, contacted the 36-year-old woman on Instagram and gradually developed a relationship with her. He gained her trust by repeatedly discussing marriage and later took her to a hotel near Nishal Circle in the Pal area, where they had intercourse.The complainant alleged that the accused continued their physical relationship, and they had encounters at a hotel near his residence in Bhuj. When she pressed him to marry her, he allegedly began making excuses and eventually refused to marry her.The woman further alleged that the accused abused humiliated her by making derogatory remarks about her caste and referring to her by her caste name.Based on the complaint, police registered an offence for sexual relations obtained through deceitful means and other applicable sections. Further investigation is underway as the probe has been handed over to assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Sweta Daniels.According to police, the woman lived in a middle-eastern country and would come to India to meet the accused.
