Hyderabad: Apart from 61.4 lakh anomaly cases identified during electoral roll revision, another 32.3 lakh voters have been classified as “unmapped” as their linkage with the 2002 electoral rolls could not be established, chief electoral officer, Telangana, C Sudarshan Reddy has said.The unmapped electors would now have to establish their linkage with the 2002 rolls or produce one of the prescribed documents during verification. Those unable to establish their eligibility face the risk of their names being excluded from the electoral rolls.The CEO said the 61.4 lakh anomaly cases and 32.3 lakh unmapped cases together would result in around 93 lakh notices being issued across Telangana post publication of the draft rolls on Aug 17.A large number of voters could not be mapped during the pre-special intensive revision (SIR) exercise. In several cases, electors filled in only their current voter details in enumeration forms and left the particulars relating to the 2002 electoral rolls blank. Officials said this was because they didn’t know the 2002 details or didn’t search for them due to a casual approach. Such electors have consequently fallen into the unmapped category.Sudarshan Reddy said every such case would be examined individually once notices are issued and a decision would be taken after verification.73.3 lakh uncollectible, 61.4 lakh anomaliesTelangana had 3.38 crore electors when the exercise began. Of them, around 73.3 lakh have been classified as uncollectible and are proposed for deletion from the draft electoral rolls.Among the remaining roughly 2.64 crore electors whose enumeration forms were collected, a total of 61,44,811 anomaly cases have been identified across the state’s 119 assembly constituencies.The calculated anomaly figure amounts to 18.1% of Telangana’s total electorate. Out of the remaining 2 crore electors, around 32.3 lakh are unmapped.The 32.3 lakh unmapped electors are over and above the 61.44 lakh anomaly cases. Their names could not be linked to the 2002 rolls either during the pre-SIR mapping exercise or subsequently on the basis of details submitted in enumeration forms.Political parties have alleged that pressure on booth-level officers (BLOs) to complete the exercise contributed to the large number of unmapped cases.22 lakh unmapped voters in Greater HyderabadOf the statewide 32.3 lakh unmapped electors, around 22 lakh are in the Greater Hyderabad area.Greater Hyderabad also accounts for around 12 lakh anomaly cases. Taken together, around 34 lakh electors in the area fall under either the unmapped or anomaly categories and would require verification.
