Origin Story
Emma Bukowski grew up in small-town Wisconsin, dreaming of surfing despite having no access to the ocean. She didn’t actually start until her mid-20s, when she moved to Hawaii and began paddling out twice a day. After relocating to Bali, she couldn’t find surfwear that stayed on while she was still learning. Everything was either too flimsy or too technical and ugly. She sketched her first design, found a local tailor and prototyped what became the now best-selling Retro Surf Suit. Friends started asking for theirs, and Noserider Surf Club launched in March 2022.
Four years later, Noserider is carried by Free People, operates a surf shop in Bali and ships from a U.S. warehouse. The brand sits in a lane the surf industry largely ignores: elegant, functional surfwear for women who take surfing seriously but don’t need to prove it through what they wear. Every piece is ethically handmade in Bali from recycled materials, with select styles lined in Vita Carvico, an eco-luxe Italian fabric. Bukowski designs for the woman who wants to feel confident in the water without choosing between performance and personal style.
